Dial-up is the way to the internet with the help of phone lines and modems. Phone is connected to the modem, which in turn will call the number of Internet Service Provider (ISP) to the Internet. Many ISPs have a set of national or local number that the user can call to get connected to the Internet. This is known as a dial-up to the number.

Dial-up is popular, because all you need is a computer and modem and telephone line. Not as fast as broadband, but more easily than from the availability and low cost installation. Internet users can choose to pay your ISP every month or every year. However, the call-cost expenses to increase substantially. If the call is still charged on the basis of time, cost a lot.

A modem is a device that sends digital data over telephone lines. Short form is used for modulator-demodulator (mo + nomen). To call the number dial the access, phone lines must be connected to the modem.
